 CARIÑO y SALUD
The Cariño y Salud [Love and Health] HIV/AIDS Prevention Project is a project of Luz Social Services, Inc. The purpose of the project is to improve the health status of Latino youth and their families living in the barrios on the Southside of Tucson, where HIV/AIDS rates among Latinos continue to increase. Few programs address the significant barriers to services faced by Latinos.
The Cariño y Salud Project is designed to: 1) increase awareness of health disparities and health promoting behaviors, 2) reduce barriers to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services, and 3) strengthen leadership for addressing health disparities, increasing the capacity of local community-based organizations to serve Tucson’s Latino community.
